The latest Fendi Fall 24 RTW show by Kim Jones was all about the 1980s  in the UK where the impact of art, music and fashion during that time was globally influential, where various subcultures began to absorb external influences such as the Japanese designers like Issey Miyake and Yoji Yamamoto's   Parisian fashion scene and reinvent them with a distinctly British flair. 

 Fendi’s Fall 2024 womenswear collection, drew inspiration specifically from the year 1984. 

London-born Kim Jones looked back at the house’s archives and stated that the sketches from Karl Lagerfeld in 1984 reminded him of London during that period: the Blitz Kids, the New Romantics, the adoption of workwear, aristocratic style, Japanese style - yet still with a British elegance in freedom, not caring a single thing what anybody else thinks, something that resonates with Roman style, where Fendi is based. 

Jones's collection was a sophisticated interpretation of these diverse influences, showcasing precise tailoring and innovative design. Japanese aesthetics are apparent in the meticulous cuts and shapes, while the spirit of the new romantics is subtly hinted at through polka-dot embroideries and hood designs. The collection strongly reflects Rome's influence and Fendi's identity, mixing images of classic statues into the designs along with Italian luxury materials.
